Think big locally

Why air pollution?

Take a deep breath: the facts about air pollution in the UK are shocking. Air pollution is one of the UK’s (and the world’s) biggest killers, linked to up to 36,000 premature deaths a year in this country. Breathing in air pollution is especially bad for young children whose lungs are still developing – but we are all affected. Cutting air pollution has direct benefits for our health and on workplace productivity, drives green innovation and the shift to renewables, and should cut congestion by reducing traffic levels. Less localised air pollution would make our cities and towns more attractive places for everyone to live and work.
