Gridserve's story
Gridserve's mission statement is to move the needle on climate change. They are trying to do that by reducing the carbon footprint of vehicles and putting together UK-wide infrastructure that supports people moving across to electric vehicles. They want their infrastructure to be dependable and affordable to enable mass adoption of renewable energy.
They have constructed the world's first electric forecourt run in Braintree, which includes 36 rapid chargers, super-fast WiFi, rentable meeting rooms, and an exercise area that puts electricity back into the grid. The site is completely net-carbon neutral; anything pulled from the grid is offset by what they put back in.
Although this may be Gridserve's very first electric forecourt, they have over 100 more sites planned across the UK, with their next coming to Norwich East. They also constructed their site sustainably by using Volvo ECR25 Electric excavators, which are used to dig trenches for all the power banks, transformers, charging units and cabling.
