Raasay Community Renewables
We aim to build two community owned hydro schemes on the Isle of Raasay.
Reducing the carbon intensity of electricity generation is vital, as our energy supply contributes around one-quarter of the total annual carbon emissions in the U.K. Decentralisation of renewables is an unstoppable force – local energy generation improves security of supply, is increasingly cost-effective and is far less polluting. We are part of a virtuous cycle: empowerment leads to more people switching to renewable energy supplies, that accelerates greater decentralisation of power generation, that results in more empowerment locally.
