Picture A Carbon Zero Future
This week we have launched submissions for our first ever online photography exhibition. Picture This: will showcase images of collective action from across the country, covering a broad range of approaches to reducing carbon emissions and protecting the environment.
Our goal as a charity is to speed up progress to carbon zero, by sharing and celebrating the amazing local climate action that is already taking place across the United Kingdom. Picture This: is an opportunity for people to tell their story in a different way.
We’re asking participants to submit three images each: Snapshot Of Now, Connection On Camera and Focus On The Future. We are really excited to see how people interpret each of the titles and come up with creative ideas to make their photographs stand out. We’re not looking for professional quality photographs, as much as pictures that have meaning behind them.
The initiatives photographed will be categorised within six themes, which align closely with our Action Areas: Renewable Energy; Biodiversity & Nature; Land Use, Food & Agriculture; Carbon Zero Transport; Circular Economy and Sustainable Buildings.
The virtual exhibition will open with a ticketed private view event on Thursday 17 June, hosted by environment presenter and author Atul Kumar. We will be working with Atul to choose our top six entrants, who will be invited to participate in a panel discussion on the behalf of their organisation as part of this event.
I was delighted to be asked to support this exhibition. In my work I come across many fantastic organisations that are working to fight the climate crisis, and I know that visual communications, including photography, are fundamental to engaging a wide audience. I’m really looking forward to seeing the final images and to chatting to some of the photographers at the private view in June.
Atul Kumar, Host
Submissions will remain open for six weeks, closing at midnight on Monday 24 May. For all details about how to take part in Picture This: please visit the Carbon Copy website or email [email protected]
