WCG offers a range of education courses to develop the skills needed for the sustainable rural economies of the future and for preserving vital land-based knowledge in our communities.

WCG's story

Warwickshire College Group (WCG) has two land-based teaching colleges, one at Pershore and one at Morton Morrell. At these colleges, students can study a wide range of land-based courses to prepare for careers in agriculture, horticulture, countryside management, equine and animal care professions.

Moreton Morrell College covers 650 acres of countryside and has been delivering agricultural education for more than 70 years. Students on the courses here are given the opportunity to support the working 230-hectare commercial farm on site and maintain wildlife habitats including woodlands, wetlands and grasslands. Pershore is a smaller, 60-hectare site that includes a nature reserve, conservation area as well as soil and plant science laboratories.

WCG works actively across their sites to put land-based learning into practice by, for example, reducing the use of chemical pesticides and monitoring their cattle closely to reduce methane.

Useful learnings from WCG

Whether studying at a land-based college is your first step towards a qualification or it's part of your desire for lifelong learning, further education is invaluable in developing the skills needed for the sustainable rural economies of the future and for preserving vital land-based knowledge in our communities.
