People Powered Retrofit

Our Changeprint

Our Changeprint can be measured by carbon emissions saved by householders retrofitting their properties; the reductions in household heating demands and lower energy bills; and the local employment opportunities we create.

Our story

We are a not-for-profit service for householders in Greater Manchester, offering clear, independent advice and support to help householders plan, procure and deliver retrofit projects for local people to a high standard.

Established with Government support and initiated by community energy co-operative, Carbon Co-op, and design and research cooperative, URBED, our aim is to help more householders in Greater Manchester to retrofit their properties.

We offer a range of services to help people achieve their retrofit goals. From designing their project to helping them procure the best contractors; overseeing quality assurance to offering impartial, expert advice, we can help people every step of the way. If they want, we can manage the entire process or just help with specific phases – it's up to them.

Our advice

To develop a sustainable retrofit service for owner occupiers, you need to put people at the heart of what you do. Social enterprises need to be rooted in their local area!
