Community Computers story
Renewal North West have recently started to run a project with Stockport Council. This is an operation called Community Computers, which is working with the council to help with digital inclusion. This benefits the environment greatly because it takes e-waste such as phones, tablets and computers etc to Community Computers where they reuse, refurbish and destroy all the data on them. They can then make the items available to the local community who can access digital information in an easy and affordable way.
Community Computers now provides professional I.T. asset management for both private and business customers, specialising in recycling donated computers in the North West, providing a free service that is secure and professional. As registered waste carriers, they assure that donated materials are treated in a secure and safe manner.
Based in Stockport, the skills centre provides an onsite work experience opportunity for individuals to grow in confidence and practical skills, overcome barriers and ultimately gain full time employment.
Useful learnings from Community Computers
Give organisations like Community Computers your unwanted technology to reuse and refurbish and give back to the local community. Your donation is either recycled or upgraded. By choosing us for your I.T. recycling, you are helping us to provide employment, work skills and training to long-term unemployed individuals, and enabling us to tackle digital exclusion and provide low-cost computers back into the community.
