We are delighted to announce the appointment of a new Trustee, Ruth Gerrard, to the Carbon Copy team. Ruth is a freelance consultant and bid writer, working almost exclusively in fundraising and development for UK environmental charities since 2007. Based in Somerset, she is a Diploma Qualified Member of the Chartered Institute of Fundraising and specialises in projects engaging communities with nature, climate change and sustainable energy.
Alongside a working knowledge of non-profits and the funding landscape, Ruth also brings experience in strategy, process, research and analysis. She has previously worked for the Centre for Sustainable Energy, The Conservation Volunteers and Global Action Plan, and has done substantial freelance work for organisations within The Wildlife Trusts movement and the Local Net Zero Hubs.
Appointed through an extensive recruitment process using digital platform Nurole, Ruth will be joining our existing Trustees: Ric Casale, Heather Allen, Andy Knott and Claudia Jaksch.
Ric Casale, Chair of Carbon Copy’s Trustees said: “We are so pleased to have Ruth on board and look forward to benefiting from her wide-ranging experience in environment and sustainability non-profit projects and causes in the UK. She will make a big impact as Carbon Copy continues to grow and we help scale the impact of local action for climate and nature across the country.”
Ruth said: “Carbon Copy is championing many community-scale activities similar to those I’ve helped develop, fund and support throughout my career. By joining the Carbon Copy team, I hope to use my perspective and understanding of the sector to ensure we can add as much value as possible to projects on the ground. By helping communities to share learning and inspire each other, we can take more effective action against climate change and reverse damage to ecological systems.”
