In this episode of the Carbon Copy Podcast Running Out of Time Special, Carbon Copy Podcast producer Brad chats to participants of the Trent Valley Way Relay – a one-day event taking place along the Trent Valley Way in the city of Stoke-on-Trent in Staffordshire. This mini relay within the wider climate relay was organised by the Trent Rivers Trust, and included a visit to the Stoke City FC stadium and to several historic sites related to Stoke’s famous pottery industry.

Listen to chats with Ruth Needham from Trent Rivers Trust, Lis Gibbs who worked on the Trent Valley Way project, Craig Chorlton from Stoke City Community Trust, and Running Out of Time co-founder Dan Thompson.

“I think that sometimes everyone can feel you can get that feeling of powerlessness when you think about the huge problems that the planet faces and you think, ‘oh my gosh, how can I do anything to help with that?’ But something like the Running Out of Time relay is just a really good way in which you can feel like you’re getting involved and doing something positive…

“…You meet people, so it feels like a really good community thing to do as well, but also it just makes you feel like you’re doing something to raise awareness of the fact that we know we have got to do something, and we’ve got to really, try and get our decision makers to sit up and take notice. Anything that we can all do to do that is, is really important and really powerful.” – Lis Gibbs
