Our story
Move On Wood is a social enterprise using reclaimed wood to create custom products and change lives in Edinburgh.
Offering a cheap and convenient waste wood recycling point, we are an environment and community-friendly alternative. The wood people recycle with us gets a new life from our skilled carpenters.
We commission custom furniture, and our creative carpenters bring customers' ideas to life using reclaimed materials. We build furniture for shops, cafes and other commercial venues as well as peoples' homes.
We are part of Move On Scotland, who work with vulnerable young people and people affected by homelessness to help unlock their potential.
We provide employability training and work experience opportunities including an eight-week course for young people. Participants can gain a variety of skills and qualifications with us.
Volunteers are welcome. We offer a variety of tasks and provide full training and support. We want volunteers to have an interesting and rewarding experience with us, as well as passing on our skills for reclaiming, recycling and upcycling.
Our advice
Convenience and cost are important to think about when we're talking about waste. Move On Wood provides a cheap and easy option for getting rid of wood that's no longer wanted, and people know that they're contributing to a good cause.
