To cut carbon, we took a decision to move all of our electricity supply to 100% renewables. We use a company called Ecotricity – all of the electricity we use is powered by renewables.
For both our clients and our staff, as everybody is becoming more aware of net-zero and the climate emergency, we are finding that having solutions that we can deliver that involve lower carbon options is leading to a better dialogue with them. Our staff are all really engaged in the initiatives we have put together to reduce waste, business mileage and electricity usage, which means we have lots of opportunities to talk to our staff about their ideas.

Our advice
One piece of advice I would have for an SME is to have a look at books by Gareth Kane – he writes about greening businesses and breaks everything down into super simple steps. He talks about 'small steps' and 'huge leaps' and it makes everything seem much more doable. It is a huge challenge and there is lots to think about, but reading his book allows you to break the process down into practical steps and demystifies the challenges.
