Reducing carbon emissions with Shaun Turner from Lancashire County Council captured as part of the Zero Carbon Tour.

Our story

by Shaun Turner from Lancashire County Council - Zero Carbon Tour interview

Lancashire County Council have commissioned four environmental reports to provide them with an evidence base on climate change and how they are going to respond. This will help develop an understanding on any vulnerabilities to extreme weather events, as well as future opportunities.

Within the council area, all 152,000 street lamps are being changed to LED, which has led to savings in excess of £50 million and tonnes of CO2. Across the county the council has also planted 149,000 trees as well as switching their fleet of vehiclees to Electric Vehicles. In addition, the peatland across Lancashire is also going to be a major carbon capture asset going forward, which the council will capitalise on.
