Reducing carbon with Ruth Lambert from Federation of Small Businesses, captured as part of the Zero Carbon Tour.

Our story

by Ruth Lambert from Federation of Small Businesses - Zero Carbon Tour interview

Our organisation is helping businesses to reduce their carbon footprint by asking them what they need. We recently launched a sustainability hub on our website that links to lots of different resources – but the most important thing on there is a question to all small businesses that visit the hub, asking what we can do as a trade association to help them reduce their carbon footprint.

Businesses really need to think about the benefits of embracing sustainability. More and more, customers are looking for suppliers that are sustainable and make purchasing decisions based on that. The benefits of embracing sustainability are; more customers, better public relations and cost savings.

Our advice

My advice for small businesses that think they need to make themselves more sustainable is to not panic. Take it one step at a time, speak to business contacts and customers to find out what they think you should be doing as a business. Before you know it, you will be a more sustainable business.
